Maura Atwood

Actor, Teaching Artist

Maura Atwood has been working actively as an actor and theater teacher in Milwaukee since 2016, when she graduated summa cum laude from Carthage College with degrees in Theater Performance and Music. Maura teaches with the Wauwatosa School of Music and the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and performs with Kohl's Wild Theater. She has worked with many Milwaukee theater companies, including Cooperative Performance, Acacia Theatre, Mad Rogues, Off the Wall, and Original Practices. Much love to all her nerds. "And all my fortunes at Thy foot I'll lay, and follow Thee my Lord throughout the world."

Cole Conrad

Actor, Teaching Artist

Cole is a Milwaukee actor and a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Professional experience includes the postponed DOCTOR FAUSTUS (Beelzebub) with Quasimondo Physical Theatre, HENRY V (Constable, Burgundy) at Voices Found Repertory, MERCHANT OF VENICE (Bassanio) at Mad Rogues' Bard and Bourbon, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS (Dromio of Ephesus) at Optimist Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park, ANNIE JUMP AND THE LIBRARY OF HEAVEN (Dr. Jump intern understudy) at Renaissance Theaterworks, A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE (Tony/Immigration Officers understudy) and A FLEA IN HER EAR (Hotel Guest) at American Players Theatre. Some Parkside favorites include ANGELS IN AMERICA (Prior), Marie Kohler's MIDNIGHT AND MOLL FLANDERS (Preacher), MACBETH (Ross), and A CHRISTMAS CAROL: ON THE AIR (Scrooge).

Emily Elliott

Production Manager

Emily is a Milwaukee based actor, writer, dancer, producer. She graduated from the university of Wisconsin Eau Claire in December 2018 and since then she has worked with companies such as Renaissance Theaterworks, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, and Cooperative Performance. She’s very excited to work with The Summit Players for their No Bummer Summer season this summer, and she’s especially thrilled to try on a new hat as production manager. She looks forward to continue working with this amazing company, and can’t wait to do live theatre again!  

Jackson Hoemann

Actor, Teaching Artist

Jackson Hoemann is a current senior at Marquette University. He was last seen in Summit's ROMEO AND JULIET last summer, and has performed in and worked behind the scenes in multiple Marquette productions. As a teaching artist, he has worked professionally in the past with both Summit and Lakeshore Players Theatre in White Bear Lake, MN.

Director, Script Adapter, Humanities Expert

A Speech and Theater graduate of Marquette University, Ms. Kilmurry received her
MFA from Southern Methodist University’s Professional Actor Training Program. A
member of Actors Equity Association she has acted professionally in Seattle, Dallas,
Kansas City, Milwaukee, and at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival, as well as “Off”, &
“Off-Off” Broadway. Now based in her native Milwaukee, she has turned her focus to
directing, teaching, and dialect and vocal coaching. For more than 20 years she has been
teaching Acting Shakespeare and Auditioning and Career Preparation at Marquette
University. Directing credits include Summit Players, Windfall Theatre, The Boulevard
Ensemble, Playwrights Studio Theatre, Amethyst Productions, the John Michael Kohler
Art Center, Manitowoc Civic Theatre and the Haggerty Museum. Recent projects
include Summit’s ROMEO AND JULIET, Windfall’s STONES IN HIS POCKETS, and Marquette’s
THE RIVALS. She is looking forward to taking Summit’s THE WINTER'S TALE to the
Wisconsin State Parks in the summer of 2021.

Administrative and Education Intern

Ben Lash

Ben Lash is a Junior at Marquette University, majoring in Theatre Arts and Cognitive Science. Most recently, he has acted in Marquette's productions of THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY and PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, playing Anthony and Smee respectively. Outside of the traditional theatre scene, Ben is an actor at the Bristol Renaissance Faire. While this may be a nontraditional season for Summit to say the least, Ben is extremely excited to work with Summit for this summer's online programming.

Executive Director

A.J., a graduate of Marquette University and founding member of Summit Players Theatre, serves as the company's Executive Director. A Milwaukee local, his regional theatre credits include work with First Stage, Theatre Gigante, Voices Found Repertory, Theatre Nervosa, Quasimondo Physical Theatre, Windfall Theatre, Cooperative Performance, Renaissance Theaterworks and Milwaukee Chamber Theatre's Young Playwrights Festival. A firm believer in the importance of access to Shakespeare, nature and theatre for all people, A.J. is deeply grateful to all of the artists, audience members, donors and supporters who continue to make the hard work this company does a reality.

Michael Nicholas

Music Director

Michael Nicholas is an actor, writer, and musician from Palatine, IL. Past credits with Summit Players Theatre include Sir Toby in TWELFTH NIGHT and Angelo/Dr. Pinch/A Statue in THE COMEDY OF ERRORS. When not onstage, he can be found eating sandwiches, making puns, and jamming with his band, My Dad’s Boat. He’s thrilled to be returning to the Summit family to help this amazing cast sing their hearts out, and he can’t wait for the world to be able to see this show!

Education Director, Actor, Teaching Artist

Caroline is so excited to be back with this wonderful group of people for another summer full of Shakespeare, workshops, and adventure! Caroline was seen in Summit’s season last year as the Nurse, Balthasar and Potpan in ROMEO AND JULIET, and before that as Viola and Maria in TWELFTH NIGHT. Caroline is recent graduate of Marquette University with a degree in Theatre Arts. Some of her Marquette credits include Bonnie in ANYTHING GOES, Amy in LITTLE WOMEN, and Symone in WHITE PRIVILEGE. Here’s to another wonderful season with Summit!

Nadja is a Milwaukee based actor and teaching artist. She moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to attend Marquette University and received degrees in both theater arts and digital media. Since then she has acted in regional theaters around Wisconsin, including Forward Theater, First Stage Children's Theater, The Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Northern Sky Theater, the Children's Theater of Madison, and of course Summit Players Theater. She was last seen traveling through the state parks with Summit as Juliet in the 2019 production of ROMEO AND JULIET, and as Luciana (and myriad others) in the 2017 production of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS. Lots of love goes to her family back home and to the incredibly supportive theater community in Wisconsin.

Costume Designer

Amelia Strahan

Amelia Strahan is a Milwaukee based Costume Designer. She graduated from Marquette
University in 2018 with a BA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Costume Design and a minor
in Studio Arts through the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Amelia spent the 2018/2019
season at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater as the Costume Construction Emerging Professional
Resident. She has also worked with Windfall Theater, Milwaukee Chamber Theater, and UW-
Milwaukee Dance Department. Amelia has enjoyed working with Summit Players for the past
three seasons and hopes to get back to the parks with them next summer!

Sarah Zapiain

Tour Manager

Sarah Zapiain is a Milwaukee based actor and theatre maker, and this is her first collaboration with the Summit Players. She earned her BA in theatre from Fransican University of Steubenville in 2016.  Some favorite acting credits include: William Shakespeare’s MACBETH (2018), TWELFTH NIGHT (2017), KING JOHN(2017) and RICHARD III (2017), Terrence Rattigan’s AFTER THE DANCE (2016), George Bernard Shaw’s ARMS AND THE MAN(2016), and Vaclav Havel’s THE MEMO (2015). In the fall of 2017 Sarah had the pleasure of directing Voices Found Repertory’s production of HAMLET. She has served on the VFR board of directors since 2017 and is the Company Manager. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys running, reading about theatre and psychology, singing and playing ukulele.
